What is ITAR?
Throughout the past few years, Brennan has earned many certifications and accreditations—one of these being ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). All manufacturers, exporters, and brokers of defense articles, services, and data must be ITAR compliant. For Brennan, being ITAR compliant has allowed us to expand our product line and customer base. It requires processes that control the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of defense and space-related articles and provides protection over product, blueprints, and our domestic manufacturing facility.
What does ITAR mean for Brennan?
Being ITAR compliant allows Brennan to manufacture fittings and components that are on the United States Munitions List and are to be used by the United States Military; therefore, it adds an enhanced level of protection and control over everything that comes out of our domestic manufacturing facility. There are also strict rules in place to regulate who is and isn’t permitted inside the facility. Both United States citizens and International visitors must sign in, however, International visitors would require an escort in order to tour the inside of the facility—this applies to International Brennan employees as well. These rules are put in place to preserve the confidentiality of the components being manufactured and prevents foreign nationals from accessing any information and data on the product.
Becoming ITAR compliant has allowed Brennan to grow our domestic manufacturing facility by manufacturing both aerospace and defense-related products. It instills confidence in our customers to know that our parts are being manufactured under the highest of standards and under government control. Without ITAR, we would be unable to produce any fittings and components that are to be used in military, defense, or space applications. Becoming compliant has opened many opportunities for our company to grow with several new and existing clients.
