Braided Hydraulic Hose
Wire braided hydraulic hose incorporates one or two high tensile steel wires which are woven and crossed to overlap each other over a synthetic rubber or elastomeric hose. The wire braiding is performed on machines which wind the wire in a crisscross pattern around the hose. This type of overlapping braiding of the wire allows for flexibility to make tight bends and significantly improves burst resistance. Unlike spiral wound hose, braided hydraulic hoses withstand more tensile stress, allowing it to achieve these tighter bend radiuses.Designing your system with quality components and strong relationships
Fluid conductors describe the different types of conducting lines that interconnect components within a hydraulic system. They provide a leak-free transmission of high-pressure hydraulic fluid and are key to the performance of a system.
Types of Fittings for Hoses
Fittings are used to connect hoses, pipes and tubes to hydraulic systems. They maintain a quality seal and hose pressure, also reducing the risk of torquing. But, when looking at the different types of fittings for hoses, it’s easy to get confused. There are many shapes, materials, threading and sealing types.
Hydraulic systems are found in a wide variety of applications, from small assembly processes to large capacity integrated steel mills, earth moving equipment, chemical and food & beverage processing, aerospace and just about anywhere where there is a need to control the movement of some type of mechanism. Hydraulics enable significant work to be accomplished from lifting heavy loads, oil and gas drilling, turning mining augers and much more.
Hydraulics have many uses; from mechanical systems which lift or push heavy objects, to landing gear in an aircraft for moving the wheels into place for cushioning the landing, to operating the bucket on a backhoe. And hydraulic hoses perform a vast number of critical functions in any system, from low to medium to high pressure applications, hoses are the arteries of a hydraulic system.
Special attention must be given to hose assemblies. The two preparation options to choose from are skiving or non-skiving a hydraulic hose.
SKIVING Skiving a hydraulic hose is the process of using special equipment and tooling to shave a predetermined depth of the OD and ID of the hose. Some medium pressure hose fittings require only external skiving (or single skive) in order for the ferrule and hose fitting to mate correctly.
A hydraulic system’s design needs to focus on the required working pressure of the application. To do so, the working pressure of the components must coincide with the system requirements. The components for the system are then selected to ensure safe and acceptable service life.
There are a number of factors to consider when selecting hydraulic hose fitting types, including the compatibility of the fitting to the hose, one or two piece design and the correct assembly.
Brass Push-On Fittings
Brennan's brass push-to-connect fittings allow you to quickly and easily connect a push-on hose to a variety of threaded connections, without using clamps or ferrules. Available in sizes for 1/4" to 1" hose. We offer adapters for NPT, JIC and SAE threads as well as hose-to-hose adapters. If you need custom push to connect fittings, our engineered solutions team will create and manufacture something tailored to your specific needs. Brennan makes things happen!
